For a Beanie:

Next row: Ch1, sc in same sp as ch 1, sc all around, sl st to beg ch 1

Work a total of 6 rows of sc; fasten off and tidy up ends. Your beanie is done!

For a Cloche:

Instead of working 6 rows of sc, work 1st row as follows: ch 1, 2 sc in every stitch around, sl st to beg ch 1; Continue with 2 more rows of sc, fasten off and tidy up ends. Your cloche is done!

For a sunhat:

Work as for Cloche, but increase again on 3rd row as follows: ch 1, 2sc in first st; * sc in next 4 sts; 2 sc in next*, rep from * to * to end, sl st to beg ch 1

Work a total of 6 rows before fastening off and tidying up ends, or, if you want a much bigger brim, increase again on every 3rd row as before, and continue until the desired length is reached.

Add a flower if desired as decoration.

3 Layer Flower pattern:

Make a magic ring, or alternatively ch 4, sl st to 1st chain to make a ring

Ch 1, sc 1 into ring, ch 3; (5 times) sl st to 1st sc (5 loops)

Next, sc into the nearest loop, (ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1) in loop, sl st to next loop. Repeat around to make 5 petals.

Next: ch 2, working at the back of the flower, sc into the middle of the back of a petal, ch 4, sc into the middle of the back of the next petal, repeat around until you have made 5 loops. Work as for layer one, but make 4 dc into each loop instead of 3dc as in layer one. Work to make 5 petals for the 2nd layer.

Next: ch2, working at the back of the flower, sc into the middle of the back of a petal from the 2nd layer, ch 5, sc into the middle of the back of a petal, repeat around until you have 5 loops.

Work again as for layer one and layer two, this time working 5 dc into each loop until you have 5 petals.

Tidy up ends, attach the flower to the hat, maybe adding a button or pearl to the middle of the 1st layer for extra prettiness.
